Prayer - Grant World Heavenly Peace

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I viewed this video on Giovani Marradi I loved
it and wrote this prayer for my friends on this site.
Original lyrics of the song "Stille Nacht" were written
in Obendorf bei Salzburg, Austria by priest Father
Joseph Mohr and the melody was composed by
Austrian headmaster Franz Xaver Gruber. In 1859
John Freeman Young (second Bishop, Episcopal
Diocese of Florida) published the English translation
that is most frequently sung today. The carol
was first performed in Nikolaus-Kirche (Church of
St. Nicholas) in Oberndorf, Austria, on December 24,
1818. Mohr had composed the words two years earlier,
in 1816, but on Christmas Eve, brought them to Gruber
and asked him to compose a melody and guitar
accompaniment for the church service.
Silent night, holy night!
All is still, all is right.
God bless Poetfreak friends' beguiled
With precious love of infant child.
Grant world heavenly peace,
Grant world heavenly peace~
Silent night, holy night!
Help our words show our delight,
To rejoice in hearts near and far
And know shepherds found light’s bright star
To grace the world with love,
To grace the world with love~
Silent night, holy night!
Let divine words we write
Be pure as Christ in cyber space,
And true poets use this site’s base
To craft hope for the earth,
To craft hope for the earth~
Amen~
In our critique of others there should be a balance between informing and slapping one down for an error in the presentation... "Easy does it!" should always be the aim...I love your poem and love the lady-like way you responded to the criticism. You are a poet from the heart and I say to you: As We Move Through Life We must soar above Frayed madness of worldly deeds That singe our spirits Dorothy Alves Holmes A Poet Who Love To Sing
Slight corrections: The assistant priest of the Parish of St Nicola in Oberndorf near Salzburg (not Saizburg) Austria presented a poem to the organist of said Parish by the name of Franz Xaver Gruber, asking him to make a song of it for two solo voices. That was not in 1859 but in 1818 when this song was first played on Christmas Day, in that Parish. The poem itself is thought to have been written two years earlier, in 1816. It would also be great if you learned the proper use of apostrophes. Those of us who want to be seen as writers need to show a reasonable command of the English language and some respect for historical facts. Wombat
