A Poet's Wish

Let not my words that I say
Be ever heard before
Let the memories of my verbal signal
Flow gently against mind's shores

Taste the hues of my tongue
As its flavor fills your mind
Let the rolling text consume you
And lead you like the blind

Give yourself to sublime magic
As it oozes through your being
The majestic words hold you captive
No thoughts of ever fleeing

Wrap yourself with fervent script
Feel comfort in its grip
Lay down your inner security
And let your barriers slip

Trust in me to take you
Where no one has ever been
Sail upon the verses spoke
With a complacent grin

The lands that sit and await you
So vibrant and full of vim
The paragraphs propel you
Down into depths within

Fly and soar above the lands
That we claim as paradise
Take in all the words portray
Of beauty and all things nice

The words will guide and protect
As you explore the promise land
Then as the end draws to a close
The words fade in the sand

I love this very beautifully crafted poem/prayer/wish, Pendemic. The scansion, rhythm and rhyme are flawless and the poem flows in liquid syllables, satin smooth. I adore the simplicity in which the poem is written, it makes it soooooo appealing to me. Exquisite penning from your skilled poetic pen, which I have so enjoyed reading. Thank you for sharing. Blessings always.....

And let your barriers slip - that is the deepest level to which a poem should lead one; and your poem does that so well, Pendemic

My advice is - never go for a poet when you think of eternity, love is not a feeling but a state of the mind - and poets are all feelings which fluctuate and are temporary - just enjoy momentarily...

Where did you learn to write? Did it come to you as breathing did or more of a circumcision? You seem to exhale words of beauty and the page disapears and images emerge. You have a gift, your words could change lives. I hope you are sharing these with some who need soul reviving in your community. Stunning what you can do with a noun, verb and adjective.

I'm not sure if the word "nice" is one I ever feel comfortable reading in a poem. However, the final two lines more than make up for it - they are really great.
