Sandra Fowler was born in West Columbia, WV, on February 4, 1937, and has been writing poetry for almost fifty years. She was the Associate Editor of Ocarina from about 1978 to 1989.She has authored three books of poetry and was nominated for The Pushcart prize, 1998. Wazir Agha dedicated his Selected Poems to her in 1998. She was honored with Cultural Doctorate at World University Round Table,1981 and Honorary Doctorate from World Academy Of Arts And Culture, 2002. She was was awarded the Best Critic's award and International Best Poets Award 2005 by The International Translation and Research Centre,China.

Sandra is one of the finest poet and human being I have met. It makes me really sad that she is unwell for so long, have sent several messages to her, as we keep in touch over email, but no response. I was really worried and requested C P SHARMA JI to find out about her health, he got in touch with her very close friend Raja Ramchandran and gave me the latest update, but that was a few days back when he told me , her niece had informed Ramachandran ji she is out of danger. She is in my prayers Premji always, Yday a poet friend said, we appreciate good poetry before we understand it, Sandra's work has that stunning effect, and one wonders how does she come up with poems, images so restrained and spell binding. She once told me she writes in utter state of zen and stillness. thanks for this post. MAMTA

Am so sad to read this Prem - - dear Sandra has been my true inspiration and friend over such a long time and every so often I have appealed to her to post here on P.F. as her friends here are many. Premji, She is ever in my prayers. I had a relayed message recently that she is on the fast recovery and she will be rejoining us on Muse India soon. She is a gem among the poets, no doubt about it. I pray again that she gets well soon.
