The Hardest Thing

The hardest thing
we will ever learn
is how to say goodbye
to breathe the air our lovers breathe
beneath the same blue sky
to face the day the only way
a broken dreamer can
to live our days in loneliness
each hour of our span

The hardest thing
we will ever write
is a letter of farewell
ink and paper lead the way
to where the demons dwell
to consign all hopes
of future bliss
to the grey shores of the sea
with memories doused
in bitter sweet
of a love that could not be

Real pathos comes from this read right through every line - a fine piece of reflection on unrequited or lost love Kev. An impressive verse.

Wistfully beautiful and admirably woven.

I love the perfect rhythm, rhyme and effortless flow in this very bitter-sweet write, Kev. Goodbye is never easy to say, but I have found that the last Goodbye is the hardest one of all, because there is no hope for reconciliation in this lifetime, until we meet in Spirit, once it is said. Good love gone bad, for whatever reason, is not easy to say Goodbye to at all, but it must be said if the living with it is harder to endure than the dying and letting go. Memories remain, to be thought about in the days, weeks and months to come, which soon turn into years. They stay forever and it is best to hold on to the good and allow the bad ones to go. An excellently inked, very poignant write, Kev. I believe love is never lost, even when we lose it. I believe it is absorbed into the atmosphere, where mankind benefit from it. Thank you for sharing, Kev. Blessings always.......

Unrequited love must be. an unending tragedy. A love that cannot be spoken of openly. Can only lead to misery. If you take it seriously. Cut your losses and move on. Why should you be so woebegone. She is not the only one find yourself another one. Some one you can call your own Although as yet ,to you unknown
