Church tower in mist by john doogan photographer

Rhythm Indeed

The bell hung high within the tower,
reverberating with such power.
To call to prayer the young and old,
and keep them safely in the fold.
A welcoming feel found here for all,
through the Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.

The bell it was but a single one,
it weighed in at pretty nigh a ton.
Located here many years ago,
it’s tone superb, o’er hill and hollow.
Reminding us all of where it sits,
surrounded by old worn stone tablets.

The bell rang loudly for all to hear,
over fields and valleys, far and near.
It’s vibrations travelled at such speed,
repeating its chime. Rhythm indeed.
And as evensong drew to a close,
the bell was silent in its repose.

We do not forget yet the masterpiece old, "...when the bell stops, song begin"...this poem again reminds the old sayings... Imagery is beautiful and really the sound of the bell has got its visibility through the words. Powerful writing.
