The Ghost Of You.

Your eyes glow with pure affection,
Emeralds, inside a soft complexion,
Sunshine smile of golden beams,
Or moonlight on a silver stream.

Your tiny hands rest warm in mine,
Upon our table of auburn pine,
Essence flows from palm to palm,
It floods me with your tranquil calm.

I close my eyes to breathe you in,
Smell and taste your ivory skin,
Hear the breath escape your lips,
Feel life’s pulse on fingertips.

An impact flash and all has gone,
Empty chair where you belong,
Morbid memory becomes a hole,
A deep dark chasm in my soul.

The ghost of you is in my mind,
That visits me from time to time,
When I’m down or feeling bad,
You remind me of the love we had.
