My Sleep Patterns.

My sleeping patterns are getting worse,
I don't know if it's because I'm away at college,
But it's driving me insane.

I won't fall asleep until four or five in the morning,
Then not wake up for the day until about one PM on the weekends.
I won't fall asleep until three or four in the morning,
Then not wake up for the day until eleven AM on the weekdays.

I don't understand.
I'll sleep for about two hours,
Then wake up for one hour.
What's going on?

Is it the freedom I have,
To sleep whenever I please?
It's throwing off my entire day though,
I can't get anything done because I feel so restless and bored.

I still wonder what the hell is wrong with this,
I know I don't have insomnia like my brother does,
But it bothers me so much that I don't know what to do.

I know that taking sleeping piss will make me drowsy always,
And it will cause my body to want it and become immune,
But I don't know what to do.

I've been turning off lights so that it's completely dark in this room,
Taking out my contacts to make my eyes tired at least,
Although it takes me about an hour to fall asleep,
I still cannot fall asleep when I want to.

I don't understand,
What's wrong with me?

Maybe you need time getting used to a new time zone, or maybe the stress of a new environment is causing your sleep dysfunction. See a doctor about your problem... it couldn't hurt.

if this is reality rather than imagination, there is nothing wrong with you--tens of millions suffer from insomnia--tens of millions have their biological clock (circadian rhythm) messed up somehow--are you consuming any chocolate, coffee, tea, or caffeinated soft drinks after about 5 PM? are you exercising? are you stressed? are you going to bed after a huge meal or on a completely empty stomach? are you depressed about something? you say "restless and bored"--could that be code for anxious and depressed? if it is a circadian rhythm problem, melatonin seems to be helpful with that--it is OTC, not habit forming and short term use doesn't carry any risks--using to for a long period of time may have some potential for causing problems, but that is not firmly established--if the university you attend has a health clinic, I would see them--they will likely ask many of the questions I posed
