Adieu with Sweetness

Catching sight of sunset's conclusion, how exquisite it seemed, how lovely. Trying to recreate it, what should the sestet be? How's this?

(sonnet # CCLXXII)

The iv'ry crescent brightly gleams so white,
Suspended now in azure navy-laced
Skies, blending lighter into green hints spaced
O'er softest yellows turning peach, alight
On rosy pink: the sunset's sweet goodnight
Kiss as the gloaming yields to dusk, replaced
By ev'ning's darkest blues as day's erased
In dulcet romance closes in delight.
If only life could end in beauty, bow
Out with a ling'ring sweetness as we go.
But death no friend is, enemy whose brow
Redeemed alone escape from seeing, the foe
Of life. Thus loveliness is gone, somehow.
The hope of seeing God's face joy does bestow.

highly crafted construction, as all the others I have read of yours-- this is strong enough to stand by itself "If only life could end in beauty, bow Out with a ling'ring sweetness as we go. But death no friend is, enemy whose brow Redeemed alone escape from seeing, the foe Of life. " but then that wouldn't be a sonnet but merely powerful verse
