I wrote this as a verse and stuck in an anniversary card some years ago, dedicated to my long-suffering spouse who has always accused me of being unromantic. Well....I'm a guy, aren't I!

The beauty of Love

Beauty is only skin deep;
there is another beauty
that only the eyes of love can see,
a beauty that makes you good for me,
a beauty that keeps me on the straight and narrow,
a beauty that cannot be found by cupid’s arrow…

Because it is inside and
shines forth from the heart;
It is the love that remains
when the insanity of raging hormones depart…
When the fun is found in fundamental
and the sensual is discovered in the essential..

When youth and its
cosmetic beauty is gone,
the beauty of love lives on…
for richer or poorer,
this overweight snorer
still loves you…

Till death us do part,
this cantankerous heart is yours…
for nothing can tear asunder
the appreciation and wonder
engendered by the woman
a man adores…

And you cannot complain
that I am not romantic anymore –
For now I have said it…
and now…
you have read it !

A combination of romance and humor Kevin and its great when couples combine the two. I would say your wife would have appreciated the sentiment and the fun as well~

beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. It goes much deeper than the skin.
