Life

i raked and i raked, then i stopped to admire
a city truck came and stood by the pile
vacumned the leaves and then off it went
with our autumn coloured futon in tow

with books, maps and google, our trip i planned
smiling more, anticipating, day drawing near
repairs, construction, closed for the season
is there a plot to keep us apart

snow fell through moonlight till the crack of dawn
gloves on, scarf flying, i bolt into the white
brown snow, yellow snow and finally no snow
i wanted to make a snow angel for you

a surprise it will be, with a drive to your work
i dream of coffee and holding your hand
meetings, tutorials, overtime on a friday
i yearn for a moment just alone

then i heard the sun as it called out your name
tanning lotion, chairs, blanket and cooler
overcast, over-crowded e-coli in the water?
no soaking in the water this day

life is in the way of my love for you
seconds found can be so rare
so i will pull my heart out here
say i love you in this poem

You say it so well too in this fascinating and well written verse Steve. Every stanza a poem in itself it makes those last lines so warm and inviting. A lovely read.
