eyes of the heart

polynesian navigators
know two hundred stars by name
sail and remember
two thousand miles of ocean

poets are silenced
stars in their heart
and voyages
ahead

amazonian dwellers
choosing herbs to blend
lay out seventeen species
at the time of full moon
and listen to each sing

poets are silenced
laying out their words
by sun and moon
and listen to each sing

Poets are truly silenced by the awesomeness of nature - -but to learn more of the use others put nature to makes fascinating reading Michael.

This is exquisite. I could read this over and over and it would never lose it's deep meaning.

Very beautifully written with a nice balance. I have read books about the Amazon and Navigators. Your poem helped recall some of those memories. I love the ocean. Your poetry has the beauty of evoking a lot of thoughts and feelings without having to be explicit.
