The sad experience of a talented friend.....

Jealousy?

Last night her spirit died
They killed it wilfully
She was far too popular
For their own tranquility

They struck at her brutally
Berated all her efforts
With the express intention
To finish her career

Lady Luck favoured the louts
They struck at her right in time
When she was vulnerable
Now they look on satisfied

They do not know that one day
She will emerge from darkness
To drive out their sense of peace
Her good friends will ensure that....

Since God declares Himself as "jealous" methinks they rather were horrendously envious. Wrath is cruel, anger is outrageous, but who is able to stand before envy? Alas for your poor friend! I hope she is granted recovery soon. This is a beautiful and rather poignant tribute to her sad fate.

Jealousy is indeed a problem. Even animals can be jealous as I have experienced this. Your last stanza is wonderful "they do not know that one day she will emerge from darkness" and I believe karma will balance the scales~

Jealousy should not be. We should encourage our friends with their talents.

you powerfully show the dark side of such base emotions and the actions that follow... tragic... and the loyalty you are showing in support will surely help support her as she regains her feet.... pity that achievement isn't rather celebrated

Jealousy, if harnessed it could replace oil as the worlds fuel. We'd never run out. Sad thing about jealousy is it's often sparked by something "perceived" but not actually true.
