Imagining Spring-things.

Scooping up dropped wings of unused fantasy
I contest the rest of winter,
.................................................and let spring
Declare war on same dark hourlong days, rank with
Damp seashore mist,
........................while I imagine spring-things.

Kissed with woven threads
........................................of golden sunshiny
Skies, vision has plants outgrowing their neighbours,
While trees, re-frocked in greeny hues,
.......................................................... benignly
Spread lush re-growth around feeding flocks, braver
Imagery, out-running mind's hold,
.....................................................benefits me.

Re-dressed in skimpy clothes, tanning pallid skin,
I close winter's door
............................to let spring in, freedom seen
Means shortest days gone,
....................................and as scheming begins.
Fancy's bud bursts and rehearses springtime dreams.

Your first line is brilliant! And the rest of the poem's not too bad either - like 'out-running mind's hold', 'I close winter's door to let spring in', and 'rehearses springtime dreams'. Delightful imaginings, delightfully expressed. Love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Lovely poem. Hopefully the spring days are not too far away now. A litlle bit of sunshine and warmth is good for the bones. Then again,....with climate change, will it just snow? Best Steve

A most sagacious and charming poem on the eventual coming of spring, Fay, and your picturesque imagery in this delightful poem was a delight to behold. Though you may be a bit premature with the skimpy clothes and sun-tanning, we'll just chalk that up to poetic license, and patiently endure the rest of winter until spring finally does arrive! Carl.
