Those Words You Meant

Do you know how I feel?
Do you even care?
I think not,
You with your poised
Arrogant air.

Those steps you make,
Your stride so sure,
Moving again,
Towards the door,
Leaving again...

If you knew how each step
Crushed
My heart,
Would it stop you?
I wonder in silence...

Or would you proceed to vacate
My heart and needs again?
I wish you hadn't smiled
As you slammed the door.

That smile, burned into my soul,
Then and forever more.
Your smile, bitter with contempt
Behind the words I know you meant.

Do you even care
That I want you here,
With me?
WITH ME!

So very sad when this happens... one wonders at this lack of empathy of the departing one... Your poem has much impact
