Almond Eyes

almond eyes
whine from outside
like a child,
her child nestled against her
on the
stained plush rug
you know i've
always loved that
red brick wall
right from the very first day
and the other across our apartment
echoes with you,
strumming
on your
dad's most beloved guitar

i can't help but
surrender
to your memories,
intricacies
and love for the world
you've always cared,
you know...

and
painted more sunrises
than you'll ever come to understand
as her almond eyes watch,
glistening,
like they always do

The past and future meet at the wistful present. When combined, they can form memorable moments.

I recently wrote something about almond eyes and I play guitar. Last stanza especially sounds a lot like real love. Always is a struggle to be in love but it's the most meaningful kind of struggle...
