~ honest reflections ~

Your Inner Truth

In the stillness of that moment,
your quietest, most honest part of your day,
do you still embrace your inner truth?
Can you feel your heart beat quicken
as the tears well up in your eyes,
and you swallow hard before they fall?

Or have you run so far away
from who you really are,
that even the facts of your own life
cannot catch up to stop and smother you?
Is the fear of letting yourself believe again
stronger than the desire to feel and be alive?

They say the truth hurts sometimes;
denying it though can kill who you really are,
and the vibrant person you’re meant to be.
How much of what’s real to us
has to be buried deeper than one’s soul,
and what will become of it over time?

Wow Nad, your last three lines! The rest of the verse is really good, but those last three lines really get me thinking about the stuff I really like to think about...
