The Hand Of God

Waves of hypothesis are meant and yet to come
as sand and sea bereft the melting scarlet sun.
Ocean moves its gigantic form to one man's test
as currents crawl then rise with ever seeking quest.

A man as grain of sand to the almighty sea
leans to a boundless haunting mass of energy.
He points hypnotic torch to glean on land and tide
as light skims and skips to traverse a furrow wide.

In glint of sand and new found light he then follows
as water eddies with questions of tomorrows.
Each step he makes to protect pastel pearl sea shells;
gulls swoop and call sky high like a town crier tells.

Behold, a sandcastle shoots sparks of stars cascades
to dolphins' lunges as waterfall's laughter plays.
A mermaid then flips her sheen of hair while plunging
in and out of furrow, rhyme and reason coming.

Yet, sandcastle's pinnacle is a shroud of mist.
has Neptune's inspiration and ideals kissed his
Sponge lips of mystical enlightenment before?
only he can open his secret sea-sealed door.

Patience tests a key of time and perfect turning
there sits a note that requires his discerning.
"Scoop up sand to then sift it slowly through your hands
"to see what happens when the grains then stick or land.
Some land as a pile of your lifetime's memory
to show your time on earth in sand and sun and sea.
Others linger and stick like seaweed washed to shore,
gifts and talents you bring to give to rich or poor."

"Profound energy patterns have evolved your soul
as the stormy seas have challenged your sail boat's goal.
Use your log book to push your pen to day's givings
record your highest rides and your sad misgivings."

"When your log is taught to mermaids of the fishes
you know to give you get deepest ocean wishes.
Around soon comes back in circumnavigation,
such a simple law of love for all of God's creation."

"When days are shadows of a half-forgotten shore
and sandcastles are footprints to ne're walk no more.
Sail on rainbow's curve with a bucketful of sand
as ropes pull deep in your heart God will take your hand."

a wonderful, spiritual write, with such ease of flow, alliteration, carefully chosen words to sketch images that draw one instantly into the content, asking for more. Really Karin One reading of your poems is never enough to fully enjoy the beauty, diction and gently woven images with a message. Hereis a profound message of living, loving, faith, surrender. My eyes are misty especially after reading the closing lines. Third time, I read the poem aloud to myself, for this is one poem that is meant to be performed and recited. thanks Karin for sharing such a wonderful poem

This one flows beautifully, but there is more than just feel and sound to your poem, there is much to take in from meaning and reflection. Thanks very much for posting.

Beautiful and profound! I love the imagery of the sea, which is at the center of the poem; its waves and tides weighty with the echoes of time and the transience of human life. Logic and love, the mind and the heart, the everlasting quest into the mysteries of existence, the poem manages very well to suggest all this and more. Excellent versification, the final couplets in each stanza give it a sense of continuity and clinch the theme in the last stanza: life is ephemeral. All we have to do is let go and trust God will lead us on ahead. Great mastery of poetic skills!

This is poetry of epic proportions, Karin. You weave (with a fascinating choice of words) the astrological, the mystical, the mythological and the spiritual into a rich tapestry of color, touch and sound. Your 'sand' parable is superb. Love the stanza: 'Some swiftly land a pile of reality's memory reflecting your time on earth in sand and sun and sea. Others linger and stick like seaweed washed to shore these gifts and talents you bring to give to rich or poor.' A poem that lingers in the mind's eye and needs to be read again and again. Love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Wow!! What a poem, it lept into my heart and plucked its strings and filled me with such feeling. We rose out of the ocean to invade the land and some of us left its deep tranquility and calmness behind. It is full of lessons on how to lead a good fulfilling life. So inspiring, one of the best poems I have ever read. Thank you Karin.
