Mask Face by tylermhawkins

The Mask

------------------------
Humans are slaves of Time and Space only. Moving forward in life, keeping busy with its pace, we often do not get enough time to breathe or to find a resting place. It is sad, at times, we forget this truth, while we expect instant response from our friends. Intolerance and vengeance have no place in true friendship. Such traits are part of mean, feudalistic mentality. Friendship is not a bonded labour!

I have written this piece in three quatrains, of alternating lines of 7 and 6 syllables
------------------------

Mortals should be true to words-
If not to friends- of theirs
They can feel free- love or hate,
Should avoid blaming words!

Mortals should be true to heart
If not to their own words!
They can promote self-motives-
Should avoid hurting spades!

Mortals should know how to use
The casual words, they speak
Made to smile or beautified-
A mask remains a fake!

i like the last line of the last quatrain, that´s true: A mask remains a fake! The title reminds me of "The Mask" with Jimmy Carrey and Cameron Diaz, This three quatrains poem, a free verse, is a moralizing poem: Fake doesn´t belong in Friendship! Excellent worded, Kesav!

Masks...this is a thought-provoking piece. Masks are of course, used to keep identity hidden. We may utilize them out of malicious intent or because of fear, or? I agree we should ourselves strive to be ever honest and not use subterfuge. Reminds me of sunglasses, you know what I mean?

I couldn't agree more. Human relationships (of every kind) wouldn't be so complex if people didn't bend over backwards to make them that way. The day we all no longer feel the need to employ the strategy of deceit will truly be, I think, the dawning of Mankind's new age.

actions speak louder than words, and mindulness in speech and patience goes a long way in building stable, nurturing relaionships. However the times we live in we don masks for self preservation. a thought provoking write Kesav

Full of wisdom, honesty and compassion that all would do well to embrace. I also like the form you have chosen - it gets the heartfelt message across succinctly and clearly to maximum effect.
