On another site (which I do not name here), when nobody has commented on a poem, they let you know in a rather heartless way, by remarking – "There is no comment submitted by members.” No such gloating here on PF, but even so, if nobody says anything you still feel bad about it.

No Comment

“There is no comment submitted by members.”
Nobody bothers; nobody cares;
nobody gives a hoot how my work fares
– or they mean to say something, but no-one remembers.

The fire of my passion is reduced to grey embers;
the most piercing of glances just meet with dull stares.
There is no comment submitted by members.
Nobody bothers; nobody cares.

Like summers of hope fading into Septembers,
or flowers I’ve grown being smothered with tares,
I search and I search but, despite all my prayers,
I read once again, with a chill like December’s,
“There is no comment submitted by members.”

I think most of us are glad we found PF, after having experienced the advertising, nightmarish hell that is PH. And what's with HP now charging poets to post their work? Yes, PF is by far the best of the literary sites I have been to. Thanks for sharing this clever gem.

Good sharp look at websites that treat participants that way, erik...Yes, PF has a more friendly and even family feel about it

Excellent write, I specially love the last stanza. This is what I immediately loved about this site, people are very warm and they comment right away. I won't name sites either but in another site many write you and just keep asking you to read their poems and many don't bother to reciprocate. I try to comment on most of the new poems here. I'm sorry if I've not commented on all... sometimes time is not on my side. Great poem Paul!

This is an exceptionally good write, Paul. :) Sad and very much the intro and poem can be related to. I have indeed known it when I started. Often it seems like people reciprocate when we comment. But there are those who don't do that either. In the beginning I used to feel invisible. But gradually it came out all right. PF is a very user friendly site, thanks to Tom. :) Me, too, confine to this site, as it is mobile friendly. And also on facebook, where I post on many poetry groups where quality gets noted. And so even if a poem here goes less commented on, it gets compensated there. :) It's all about our heart which wouldn't feel happy unless someone thinks our work is worth our time spent on the work. Cheer up.. As a student I don't get much time to spent here as before. Somewhat like a post-and-run poet here. But I want all to know that I appreciate all poets here and respect them for being bold enough to be a poet. That alone takes a good amount of courage. :) Best wishes, and keep writing. Awesome rhyme and metaphor.. :)

LIke Kath I am a single-site poet really and I like the attempts here on P.F. to find time to read and just tick someitmes if readers like the verse - - comments are valued and are usually encouraging - the un-named site you quote sounds unduly harsh Paul. The expressions in this verse were tempered with much honesty and beautifully worded. Thanks for posting this reminder of the value of reading and commenting to hard-working writers.

Your heart-wrenching poem says everything about why I am devoted to PF. I'm a single site gal! Sadly, even here it is impossible to read and comment on every poem. But at least the poet's nose isn't rubbed in the dirt when their words go down like a lead balloon. That's just adding insult to injury!We all have hits and misses but I try to bear in mind the old adage, if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. :) kath xxxxxxx P.s. Gosh, I just read this back and I sound like kath's almanac of provincial proverbs! Lol! xxx

Nice poem, on a note-worthy theme, well composed...your single rhyming scheme and use of refrains, very much attractive

A sad but honest write with perfect rhyme and rhythm. "Like summers of hope fading into Septembers". This is a lovely line but let me remind you that after every fall and winter, spring brings back renewed hope of an even better summer. Here's to your happy writing!
