“Where I Belong”

That is the place where I belong
The place under the same blue sky
But I won’t be there for so long

Where birds can’t sing the same earth’s song
And worms smile when the soil gets dry
That is the place where I belong

Where without wind, storms come along
to tease the sun that stays nearby.
But I won’t be there for so long.

Where stars weep when the night is strong
On nothing the moon can rely
That is the place where I belong

Where right loves to echo with wrong
Still the truth never stops to vie
But I won’t be there for so long

Tide is there about to prolong
When the time keeps on asking ‘Why?’
That is the place where I belong
But I won’t be there for so long

Sad, we all must leave at some point and face what's behind the other door.

A melody I hear, like those in Negro Spirituals...deep, strong, deliberate, knowing better days will come. You have gone to the heart of anyone's struggle...Be Strong always and remember "You are good!" Beautiful writing...Your poetic voice singing... Dorothy A Poet Who Loves To Sing

Wow, this poem is so full of ache. It hurts to read - but why is there still peace as I read?

such a fine, lingering poem... it really moves and reaches within... wonderfully penned and with a thread of sadness...or is it pragmatism... either way... a beautiful creation...tfs

A deeply moving Villanelle tinged with sadness and wonderfully crafted. I can almost hear the tide as it prolongs in the last stanza as your imagery is vivid and soulful.

A magnificent V-Nelle ,young lady....Your poetic prowes continues to expand with every work...And lately, i see you have very little time to even cue in on "expansion projects" lol!!!The work moves like a smooth running brook...and the poetic ambience it carries defines "serenity"....TOP MARKS, from me, missy ! ~FjR ~

This proves the point that you really don't need to worry about iambic pentameter to write a good villanelle! And a lovely philosophical topic too. Brilliantly done.

Beautiful, flowing as a brook or stream tumbling over the rocks or as the surf surging and receding in a thought-provoking rather intriguing assessment of this twisted world, which contains so much evil and yet has beauty. A poetic depiction of this vain life. Excellent!!! The imagery is delightful. Very fascinating. I enjoyed it very much!
