A bright yellow goldfinch was sitting atop my sunflower yesterday and I had no camera to take a snapshot so I captured it in a poem. Thanks to my friend Robert.
Goldfinch bright as a sunny day
what happy thoughts you bring my way,
of forsythia in early spring
and hope that helps my heart to sing.
You feast on black eyed Susan's seed
with each tiny bite, you fill my needs
for sunrise moments of all things new
like sparkling crystals of morning dew.
No glorious daffodil of spring
or wind chimes music as fairies sing
could bring more light to dark dense mood,
than you with your sun kissed attitude.
Twinkling fireflies in a mating race
could not outdo your lively pace
as sprightly and with dainty flare
you dine on daisies without a care.
My winter frown is quickly gone
as if on yellow wings had flown
and brighter thoughts begin to bloom
like stars about a harvest moon.
I step outside and watch you go
but you have left a warming flow
of sunny thoughts like gentle rays
to lighten my path on dreary days.
this poem is like the season of spring......in the garden.gives you a sense of happiness and purpose in life......and to enjoy the fleeting beauty of nature, which lightens up our dismal thoughts !beautiful poem,to be read again and again.
