he's the consummate athlete.... unstoppable, indefatible.....

runner by daledelarey

The Runner

He runs
he with the one-track mind
now approaching the finish line
and no matter how we tried to stop him
or slow him down
he is relentless
leaving us to look at at him
from where we are
defeated
breathless
finally
falling on our knees
as Time once more
collects his winnings

Fascinating depiction! It wonderfully evokes the sense of the runner and the experience of the losers, seemingly alluding to the more serious race, mayhap...... of life and eternity. Excellent!

Adversity is our spiritual lesson each day. The struggle goes without saying and is a true gift/ or winnings in this case. A great metaphor here — Sonetta. Well written. A poet friend//RH Peat

Time is persistent and the runner as a metaphor defines the ever ticking clock so well, and I find the older I get the quicker it races. Great picture and poetic concept Sonya~

For real! Some races, the best you can hope to do is keep pace as much as you can for as long as you can.
