Nothing remarkable at all

You are so remarkable!
I brush past you in the street,
steadfastly ignore your loving presence,
stare straight through you
as if you were not there,
turn away from your advice
with ears deafened by arrogance
of knowing.
Then chastise you for deserting me
when you never moved from here.

And now,

when I finally decide to talk with you
you just smile with my smile
and my smile is your smile,
until only the essence of smiling remains
with no smiler to claim
and nothing to find remarkable
at all.
