Universal Smile

He sat there smiling...
Not an ear to ear smile,
but rather a shining
that had always been there
and now remained
when all distortions were absent;
like a lake when the last
hush of the wind
had disappeared into itself.

What is on your mind? I asked.
He continued smiling...
“You should ask what is in my mind” he said.
Ok what is in your mind?
“Oh the sun, the moon, the earth, the stars;
everything” he said.
“When everything is in mind
there is nothing left
to be on it”.
And he sat there smiling...
