Shadow Poem

if i could pluck a poem like a flower
or catch one floating in the air
i'd have poems flowing like a river
if only

if I could pull a poem from behind shadows
or dig one from deep within a dream
i'd be writing today and many tomorrows
surely i will

if i could write poems like picking flowers
i'd have a dozen just for you
but alas I have only this one
will it do?
