Look Up

Mountain Gorilla, faraway brother
I stare at the stars in the moonless sky
And I think of that Rwandan mountain
Of you resting amongst the greenery
Watching over your sleeping family
I wonder if, as you are doing so
You look up through the towering arbors
Into the night sky beginning to fade
And you see the same stars as I see now
I wonder you are thinking of me
This human who values your existence
Regarding you as a strong protector
And patriarch of wild nobility
Deserving the respect of multitudes
As I look up into the moonless sky
And stand trnsfixed by the numerous stars
I pray for you and for your family
That you may live your lives as best you can
That ev'ry time you look up at the stars
You think of me praying on your behalf

Now I understand why Ron's recommending everyone to read this work...A fantastically brilliant poem with excellent imagery.

10 syllabic meter. L10 (I wonder (if) you are thinking of me)/ Love the poem. We are the only two that have a poem with the word Gorilla in it. I found that fascinating and it led me here. I have to tell you how outrageously important I find the subject of your poem. I too wonder if the silverback is looking into the stars grunting a prayer for poor mankind who doesn't think too much about the great example of creation. A poet friend// RH Peat

This is so full of respect and awe. I hope that those emotions can transmit in a viral fashion, just as much as fear and loathing can.
