When you laugh by pattimast

When you laugh

When you laugh, I hear others laughter
And when you cry, there are others tears;
Though you are your own calm symphony, that's breaking
Close to the strange, sweet shore of ravaged years
And when you die, there's others will be leaving,
And holding your hand, I shall be holding theirs.

the universal hand touches the universal heart...the universal voice is heard....

This is one of the most beautiful things I've read in a long time. Such a huge idea of collective emotional integration, executed with grave simplicity. A masterpiece.

Love this more sweet than bitter note...

The intimacy of the first four lines contrasts with a palpable remoteness in the last two....but overall hand holding is what keeps the universe together...eh? as well as kindness in all its forms....Great Poem ...I love "you are your own calm symphony" fabulous line
