Do you ever hate what you see?

You Are Me

What is your name
You're staring although
I'm not sure we've met
But you seem to know

Tracing my mask
With unwavering eyes
Melting the porcelain
Of my vain disguise

The vilest truth
Was hiding beneath
Cold glass of longing
Like gnashing ghoul's teeth

Your eyes reflect
All that I've become
That gaze beats to me
That loathsome song drum

You'd close your eyes
To hide such disgust
Not seeming to find
The charms of my lust

Turn please around
Redeem what I see
Look in the mirror
And find you are me.

Dear Cheyenna, // You say a great deal in a relatvively short poem. Even the title is charged with so many possible meanings: "You Are Me." I like this poem. It's charming and strong. You have created some great images with well chosen words. I'm wondering just how deep the rabbit hole goes for you, with this philosophy. This poem is well written, moving, and musical. It has an understone of deep emotion. And still this poem has a touch of mystery. This poem vibrates with life and vitality. A + poetry. Thank you, sister poet. --Michael
